Smuttynose Island is one of the Isles of Shoals, located in the Atlantic Ocean six miles off the coast of New Hampshire. My partner, Nancy Grace Horton, and I are part of The Stewards of Smuttynose Island. Each year we spend at least a week on the uninhabited, 27-acre island, tending to the grounds and the two buildings, and welcoming visitors. I draw and paint as much as possible, capturing views of Smuttynose and the nearby islands.
