The Famous Monsters of Portsmouth

This series of pen and ink drawings of mythical creatures in and about Portsmouth, New Hampshire began in the early 1980s, when King King climbed the steeple of Market Square’s North Church. Since then a new monster has appeared every few years to warn us about the changes that are happening in our seaport city. And also to celebrate the very special and vibrant place that it is.

Several new monsters will debut in October, 2024, at the Portsmouth Monsters All-Out Attack! show at Kennedy Gallery, Market Street Portsmouth, NH. The public is invited to the opening reception on Friday, October 4th, from 5 to 8 pm.

The monsters are available in very limited edition prints, at Kennedy Gallery, Market Street, Portsmouth. Most of the classic monsters are sold out, but there are larger print sizes (2′ x 3′ and up) still available. Call the gallery to see what they have left: 603-436-7007.

Bonus! Down at the bottom is a shot of Quentin Tarantino wearing the original Kongress Street t-shirt for a BBC interview. Thank you Mr. Tarantino!
